Do you have a great idea for a morning seminar or afternoon workshop at Summer Institute? Now is your chance to tell the SIPC about it! We are accepting morning seminar and afternoon workshop proposals for Summer Institute 2027, July 11-17 at Oberlin College in Ohio.

• Morning Seminars are chosen with an effort toward providing a variety of options to the community (i.e. spiritual, intellectual, physical, hands-on, etc.) Morning seminars are intended to be attended by the same people all five mornings, and therefore can support a curriculum that builds upon itself each day. We receive many more excellent proposals every year than we can accept.
• Afternoon workshops at Summer Institute (CERSI) are intended to be events that people can attend anywhere from once to all five days. Because afternoons are inter-generational, afternoon workshops can be designed for children, all ages, or adults. As a general rule, workshops tend to be more casual than morning seminars and are often sports, games, and crafts, although they are by no means limited to these options. Do you have a creative idea for ways that the community can play, explore, or learn together? We want to hear it!

For both seminars and workshops, here are a few things to consider.

• When writing your proposal, consider the ways in which your seminar may appeal to a variety of attendees, support the CERSI Covenant, and affirm and promote UU shared values.
• The supply budget is limited to $50 for either workshop.
• In recognition of your contribution to SI, you will receive a $300 “campership” discount off your registration. If there are two or more leaders the fee reduction is split.
• People with disabilities, people of color, indigenous people, Hispanic/Latinx, and LGBTQ candidates are encouraged to apply.
• Also, please think about the space. Will your seminar or workshop work well in a classroom setting? Outside? In a lounge? Or online? Some workshops or seminars won’t work online but others can be streamed live or recorded.
