Fun, good sportspersonship, safety and community are all goals of this afternoon gathering.Indoor volleyball courts and balls will be ready each weekday afternoon. Each day will begin with introductions and warm up drills working on setting and passing technique.Everyone’s volleyball skill level will improve during the week and a fun time is a sure thing. Humans have used many techniques and materials to beautify their bodies over the ages. Come enjoy a continued tradition at Summer Institute, as we play with a variety of tools to decorate ourselves and each other. There will be temporary tattoos, hair color, henna, hair yarn wraps and many other fun things to play with.

The SI instrumental musicians will gather in the afternoon to learn music that will be shared at evening vespers and perhaps closing ceremony. Requirements include having an instrument (string, brass, wind, percussion all welcome) and music reading ability about middle school level. Each session will focus on learning two to three tunes to play during (and hopefully enhance) the three adult led vesper services. In some past years the orchestra has taken part in some morning worship services as well.

The adult choir is open to all and has a wide variety of skill levels. Solo roles may be available at the discretion of the choir director. Rehearsals occur in the afternoon and immediately before morning worship performances.

Beer is a beverage with a long history, indeed even prehistory. Many styles and types have been brewed with local ingredients across the world. Lately the US has seen an explosion of IPAs. Now they don’t have to have anything to do with India, don’t have to be Pale, and may or may not have been fermented using Ale yeast and methods. Lets explore! If this is not your thing, we will encounter other styles as they collide in the imagination of brewers.
