What to Know About SI 2025
This year Summer Institute will be held at Oberlin College in Oberlin, OH. Some have attended here in the past, but for some it’s a new location. Here are some differences to remember:
- Dorms: Oberlin provides traditional dorm rooms, either with Air Conditioning or without it. There should be enough rooms with AC for most of our attendees, and all dorm lounges are air conditioned, even in the Non-AC Dorms.
- Bathrooms: Ohio has enacted anti-trans legislation that impacts and harms our community, specifically as it related to bathroom usage. Oberlin dorms are equipped with shared bathrooms in each dorm wing. Multi-Stall bathrooms will be designated “Women” or “Men” in accordance with Ohio law, and single-user bathrooms with showers are available in all of the dorms on campus and single-user lavatories throughout the campus (designated “All Gender”). A campus map with the location of every “All Gender” bathroom is on Oberlin’s website. Note: We are prohibited from changing multi-stall bathrooms to “All Gender.” If you have a specific need, please reach out direct to registration at registrar@cersiuu.org. Our values call on us to center love in our community and we and the staff at Oberlin College are doing everything we can to support our entire community.
- Navigation: Oberlin campus is flat and the town is across the street, the hospital is on the corner of campus. Things will be much closer than they were at PennWest. Campus is a 30 minute drive from the Cleveland airport and a 45 minute drive from the Amtrak station.
- Masking will be required in the two spaces where our entire community gathers: In the First Church Sanctuary and the dining hall (when not eating).
